DDR and eMMC Allocation Notice

Dec 8, 2025

Dear valued customers,

We would like to share an important update regarding the current memory and storage supply situation.

In recent weeks, we received sudden notices from our key upstream suppliers – Micron, Kingston, Samsung, SK Hynix and others – that their upcoming deliveries have been postponed and de-committed.

The market is currently experiencing a serious shortage of both DRAM (DDR3, DDR3L, DDR4, LPDDR4, LPDDR5) and NAND Flash (SSD, eMMC, SD, microSD). This situation worsened in recent weeks due to growing demand from large datacenters and AI hyper-scalers driven by the expansion plans of major cloud service providers.

All major chip makers are prioritizing supply to those customers first, and this leads to rising prices and very limited availability in the open market. We have witnessed price increases of 50-100% in the past several weeks. The price uptrend continues in a very fast pace and abnormal percentage.

This situation is expected to continue for the medium to long term.

Please be assured that we are working closely with our suppliers and management teams to secure additional supply and stabilize delivery schedules. We truly appreciate your understanding and patience as we navigate this difficult situation together.

If you have any urgent requirements or ongoing projects that need special attention, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We will do our best to coordinate internally and try to support your needs.

Thank you for your continuous trust and partnership.

TechNexion and emteria team up to provide solution builders with ready-to-use Embedded Systems running Managed Android

Sep 30, 2021

NEW TAIPEI CITY/AACHEN, September 30th, 2021 – TechNexion and emteria team up to provide solution builders with ready-to-use and high-end embedded systems running managed Android. This partnership enables manufacturers of sophisticated embedded products to move quickly and seamlessly to Android while ensuring long-term availability of Android security updates and remote device manageability.

The availability of security updates, the easy provision of those updates as well as best-in-class UX (user experience) is a globally growing need for connected, user-facing embedded devices. Android as an operating system, OTA (over-the-air) updates and mobile device management (MDM) solutions meet this need. The joint offering from TechNexion, a leading manufacturer of high-quality embedded computing, machine vision and embedded systems, and emteria, the provider of managed Android and MDM services for companies with user-facing products, enable customers to not only make use of all benefits of Android in their embedded solutions but to shorten time-to-market significantly.

Delivering ready-to-use Android-based products that are supported in the long term

With the addition of Android-based emteria.OS, a managed version of Android developed by emteria, to TechNexion’s System-on-Modules (SOM), the companies are following a shared mission to deliver ready-to-use Android-based products that are supported in the long term.

Customers that add emteria.OS on TechNexion SOMs know what they are doing right. They focus on their application and add-value. Let emteria handle the system updates and OTA patches and go to market much smoother and faster.” says Marcel vandenHeuvel, CEO at TechNexion.

Dr. Ilja Aizenberg, Managing Director at emteria, is convinced that “TechNexion SOMs complement the emteria portfolio of supported hardware perfectly and add a great offering for sophisticated, computationally intensive solutions.”

As a start of the partnership, the EDM-G-IMX8M-PLUS by TechNexion is now part of emteria’s supported hardware. The SOM can be flashed using the emteria installer as shown in this tutorial video. Test kits can be ordered directly from TechNexion.

COVID-19 Impacts on Supply Chain

Mar 17, 2021

With the COVID-19 pandemic still being present in many countries around the globe, TechNexion continues to contribute by doing its part to protect and prioritize the health and safety of our communities, employees, customers, and partners.

We are proud to see our System on Modules being an essential part of life-saving products for hospitals and rescue teams. TechNexion is serving customers of medical devices such as lung ventilators and human diagnostic applications with priority, adding extra resources and additional production capacities. As we all come together in our fight against the COVID-19, customers can rely on TechNexion’s robust supply chain.

Please rest assured that the commitments we have made to all our customers will remain our focus and priority throughout this challenging period.

While our System on Modules and Carrier Boards are standard products and are manufactured to stock, the current lead times in the electronic components market are extremely fluid and unpredictable. TechNexion therefore advises customers to place their orders as early as possible (generally taking into account a lead time of 28 weeks), and we recommend doing so for the whole of 2021 as of today.

We are regularly assessing the global situation with our suppliers on any major impact on the availability and lead times. We will continue to keep our customers informed as and when we receive more detailed information, which might have an impact on current orders. TechNexion is confident of having the right measures in place to continue to serve our customers and other stakeholders to the best of our ability.

If you require further information at this point, or wish to discuss any concerns you may have, please contact your TechNexion account manager.

Mender.io comes to TechNexion Hardware

Nov 17, 2020

TechNexion partners with Mender to provide developers with secure and efficient software updates

As our customers develop embedded devices at a breakneck pace, software is also being developed and adapted from open-source software at a tremendous speed.  Therefore, it is critical to be able to updated embedded software after a product ships.

A key part of embedded design management we see tremendous demand for in the market is Over The Air (OTA) updating of fielded software. The reasons for OTA are simple – there are inevitable bug fixes that need to be fixed and deployed. OTA also enables you to deploy new software that enables additional features or functions.

This is why we are excited to announce that we have partnered with Mender. At TechNexion, we have many customers working with Yocto to build their embedded Linux distributions. With Mender, one can easily integrate OTA capability into existing OpenEmbedded/Yocto metadata, which allows you to build your distribution images for A/B partitioning support. You can also perform delta updates, where only the differences between the current and new updates are packaged and shipped, and really lowers the time to complete and update, the costs of deploying the update, and so forth.

NEWS_mender-201117

Another reason why we partnered with Mender is that it allows developers to update more than just OS images. One can deploy updates of applications to install new features or to make configuration changes. In addition, with Mender, it is possible to easily deploy updates additional files that you might need to change in a running system – for example if you need to update keys or certificates.

Deployments for devices can be scheduled out. You can assign devices to groups, so that you can update a subset of devices that will be updated – for AB testing for example, or to simply update the devices at the most convenient time, for example when the devices are idle and not performing useful work.

Mender.io is a cloud-based solution – if you create an account on hosted.mender.io (which you can conveniently do by simply using a Google or Github account, or by creating an account using your email address), you can manage up to 10 devices to try the system out.

Check out a step-by-step guide regarding how to get started with our PICO-IMX8M-MINI on Mender Hub, and stay tuned to our Youtube channel for additional demonstrations and tutorials regarding how to use Mender for fast, robust, and secure software updates on TechNexion products.
